21st Annual Festival of Trees – Magic of the Lights Gala

the second event in Santa Clarita November 17, 2023 & The Weekend is The Magic of the Lights Gala, held on Friday, November 17th.  The evening features cocktais and hor dourves and a Live Auction of beautifully designed Christmas trees; many of which come with gifts such as unique experiences, wine, furniture, jewelry and more.

La Mesa Junior High Winter Concert – Santa Clarita November 17, 2023 & The Weekend

The La Mesa music department presents its winter concert fundraiser. Tickets ($5) available at the door. Tickets are free for La Mesa students and staff, and kids 10 and under.

Beachcomber presented by Eclipse Theatre LA – Santa Clarita November 17, 2023 & The Weekend

World Premiere of a comedy/drama about six people spending a fall day in the Beachcomber, a bar in Lincoln City, Oregon.

Relationships can be as stormy and unpredictable as the ocean. No one knows that better than Cap, the owner of Beachcomber, a bar in Lincoln City, Oregon. Haunted by family regrets and a troubled local barfly, he serves stories and drinks to the two couples taking refuge from a typical Northwestern gale. What secrets will surface when you dig deep enough?

Volunteer Bell Ringer

Register to ring in the season of giving! Looking for volunteer bell ringers to help fundraise for The Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Bell Campaign. Various shifts are offered on Saturdays from November 11-December 24. Volunteers must be able to stand during the shift. This is a great opportunity for families and groups.

Zonta LifeForward Workshop

A workshop to support those going through a difficult transition in their life. The workshop will focus on self-awareness, self-care and recognizing the journey. Facilitators Evelia Scanlon and Stephanie Garrison are experienced facilitators in “A Window Between Worlds,” healthy relationships, domestic violence and parenting. Guest speaker Lois Bauccio.

American Cancer Society Relay For Life Holiday Boutique

Embrace the holiday spirit as you shop at the Annual Holiday Boutique benefitting the American Cancer Society/Relay For Life of the Santa Clarita Valley on Saturday, November 18, from 10am to 3pm at Santa Clarita United Methodist Church, 26640 Bouquet Canyon Road.  The Annual Holiday Boutique features unique and thoughtful items for the gift-giving season including holiday gifts, hostess gifts, stocking stuffers, and one-of-a-kind treasures, with 50+ vendors and plenty of holiday cheer.

Browse through aisles of hand-made holiday items such as greeting cards, gift bags and tags, tile coasters, wreaths and decorations. Other handcrafted items include jewelry, quilts, fleece blankets, woodwork, tea towels, and aprons. Original gifts will be available including Simple Succulents, hand-sewn kitchen couture, LED Lit glass blocks and other home décor, along with personal items such as comfy flannel shirts, hair accessories, jewelry, and essential oils. And, of course, there will be toys!

USC Alumni Football Watch Party

USC Santa Clarita Valley Alumni Association is hosting USC football watch parties for the 2023-24 season. Game watch parties will be held on Sept. 23, Sept. 30, Oct. 14, Oct. 28, Nov. 11 and Nov 18. Kickoff times are TBD. Free USC memorabilia prizes will be raffled off. Ten percent of food proceeds along with the silent auction from local restaurants/businesses will be donated to USC scholarships for current USC students living in the Santa Clarita Valley. The Odyssey

The greatest adventure story of all time comes to the stage. An old man enters the court of Ithaca where Queen Penelope and her son Telemachus have waited years for King Odysseus to return from the War with Troy. The old man says he sailed with the famous Greek hero and his tale comes to life before our eyes.

But who is the old man and why has he come so far to tell this story?

It turns out it is Odysseus himself, disguised by the goddess Athena so that he can be reunited with his family and be revenged on those who plan to steal his kingdom.

Light Up Main Street

The holiday season is just around the corner, and the City of Santa Clarita is excited to welcome the community back to the official holiday kick-off, Light Up Main Street!

Join your family, friends and neighbors for an evening of entertainment and holiday cheer in Old Town Newhall on Saturday, November 18, beginning at 5:00 p.m. There is no better way to ring in the season than enjoying real snow, crafts, festive performances, shopping, snacking and pictures with Santa.

Residents can once again enjoy this festive event centering around the momentous lighting of our 25-foot-tall Christmas tree and thousands of lights. The official tree lighting will take place promptly at 6:00 p.m. in front of the Old Town Newhall Library, so be sure to arrive early!

Enjoy all of the holiday festivities on Main Street until 8:00 p.m.

Comedian Don McMillan at COC Performing Arts Center

Local comedian Don McMillan, who was featured last year on the 17th season of “America’s Got Talent,” performs at the COC Performing Arts Center. McMillan started his PowerPoint comedy when he was emceeing a national sales meeting for a technology company. He saw an “incredibly bad” PowerPoint presentation, so, with permission, he took the slides and made them a funny act, poking fun at the presenter. McMillan plans to feature his favorite Santa Clarita jokes that reference the city and the neighborhoods of Valencia, Newhall, Canyon Country and Saugus. GO Jazz Big Band Presents: A Century of Disney Magic

Santa Clarita-based GO Jazz Big Band, a local ensemble of top jazz musicians, invites you to step into a world where the magic of Disney meets the timeless allure of jazz. Join the GO Jazz Big Band for a spectacular musical journey as the band commemorates A Century of Disney Magic through the captivating rhythms and improvisational artistry of jazz.

The concert is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 19, 3 p.m. at the West Ranch High School Theater. General admission is $15, and students are free. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door.

Santa Clarita Pet Adoption Week

November 13, 2023 – November 18, 2023

From Nov. 13 to 18, the city of Santa Clarita will cover all adoption fees for residents adopting an animal from the Castaic Animal Care Center. Adoptable dogs and cats will also be featured at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at City Hall, 23920 W. Valencia Blvd. To celebrate Pet Adoption Day, on Saturday, Nov. 18, at Bouquet Canyon Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Castaic shelter will bring animals for residents to meet, play with and adopt. The Castaic shelter is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. No appointment is necessary. You can also view the animals online by visiting animalcare.lacounty.gov. Those interested in adopting during Pet Adoption Week will be responsible for paying the license fee, typically $20 for dogs and $5 for cats, but all other fees will be covered by the city.

Finally Family Homes Tiny Open House Fundraiser

Restoration Church (tiny house is behind the church), 23670 Wiley Canyon Road, Santa Clarita Finally Family Homes will host an open house to showcase a tiny house that was built completely by foster youth and community volunteers. The community is invited to attend this event and tour the tiny house. Guests can enjoy a complimentary brunch while bidding on an array of auction items; there will also be a 50/50 drawing. Finally Family Houses connects vulnerable young adults (youth aging out of foster care) to a supportive trauma-informed community, where they can find stability and dignity. Finally Family Homes is still looking for sponsors, auction items and volunteers for the event. SCAA Reception: ‘Honey, I Shrunk the Art’

Reception 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18; Exhibit runs Nov. 17-Dec. 17 

“Honey, I Shrunk the Art” is a small works show and gift boutique. An artists’ reception is scheduled Nov. 18. You can stop by and meet the artists and enjoy light refreshments and performances by carolers. Gallery hours are 5-8 p.m. Friday, 1-7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
