Dental Assistant Jobs for You!

Dental Assistant from Santa Clarita Advanced Dentistry in Santa Clarita, CASo, you’re thinking about becoming a Dental Assistant. You might have a few questions. Like are Dental Assistants jobs in demand? Do these jobs pay well? How long are the training requirements?

All of these are excellent questions and I’m going to guide you through this journey that is DENTAL ASSISTANT JOBS FOR NEW DA’S! I hope you read that in an excited voice because that’s what I was going for.

Dental Assistant Job Demand

Unfortunately, nobody is looking for dental assistants, at least not in outer space! Back here on Earth though the story is quite the contrary. You see as the medical field advances the more research shows us that oral health is closely related to general health. The mouth after all is the gateway to the body.

This means the demand for preventative dental services is going to go up. The other factor that will lend to the demand of dental services is our aging population. Baby Boomers were the largest generational group in American history until recently when Millennials slightly surpassed them. That’s 70 some million people.

As they age, they need more care, and that includes dental care. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of dental assistants is projected to grow 7 percent from 2019-2029, faster than the average for all occupations.

Dental Assistant Pay

I encourage you to go on a website like, type in dental assistant for job and use your location. It will also tell you how many jobs are available. This way you can verify for yourself. I’m in Los Angeles County, so I’m going to use this as my example.

In LA county we have two minimum wages. One is for companies that employ 1-25 employees. The second is for companies that employ over 26 employees. Companies with 25 and fewer employees pay a minimum of $14.25 per hour. Companies with 26 and more employees pay $15.00 per hour minimum.

According to the average hourly salary for dental assistants is $18.49 per hour. Remember this is the average, not the entry level pay. Also take into consideration that someone working in Santa Monica or Beverly Hills will probably earn a bit more than other parts of LA County.

So based on this information we can concluded that it does pay well. Seeing as you can be earning more than minimum wage. But don’t take my word for it. Let me show with these screenshots from Indeed.
